Richardson Trophy Report - 2025

Another thrilling finish that went right down to the wire. Huge congratulations to Cheshire, who have once again defended their crown – making it an incredible 9 titles in a row!

Lancashire pushed them all the way, finishing on equal match points but just missing out on total game points. A truly nail-biting battle to the very end.

This year saw 57 players take part in the Richardson Trophy matches, with 24 competing in all five rounds.
Out of those, five players remained undefeated – an outstanding achievement.
And a special mention to Jane Burke (Cheshire), the only player to win all five of her matches – a flawless performance. This was made even more impressive as Jane is Cheshire's Captain this year so she had a dual role.

A few words from Jane who was quick to acknowledge the performance of all her team.
Every player has played her part in retaining the trophy as every win and half has counted. The winning squad, in order of the number of appearances, is Cath Rawthore (Cheshire Senior Champion), Sara Spencer, Caroline Berry, Jane Burke, Barbara Jamieson, Alison Hunt, Jill Peters, Wad Grayson, Alison Bluck, Elaine Ratcliffe and Barbara Laird.
