Close at the top for the Richardson Trophy

Will it be Cheshire, Lancashire or Yorkshire?

We are nearing the closing stages for our Richardson Trophy matches and it's going to be a close contest this year and the result all rests on the final match of the season.

Cheshire have completed all of their matches. They currently lead the table with 3.5 match points and 22.5 game points.

Lancashire have also played all of their matches They also have 3.5 match points but 21 game points - 1.5 behind Cheshire. they are currently in 2nd place with the final match between Yorkshire and Cumbria to come.

With that one match to play, Yorkshire are lying in 3rd place with 3 match wins and 19.5 game points.

So the final winner can't be decided until after the Yorkshire/Cumbria match.

Should Yorkshire win the match they will have won the Richardson Trophy outright with 4 wins. Should Yorkshire halve with Cumbria they would have 3.5 match wins the same as Cheshire and Lancashire but would finish on 23 game points - 0.5 ahead of Cheshire.

The final scenario is a match win for Cumbria leaving Yorkshire with 3 match wins and the trophy would then go to Cheshire.

At the lower end of the table, the order is already decided. Durham and Northumberland both have 2 match wins but Northumberland have 18 game points compared to Durham's 12.5. So, Northumberland take 4th place and Durham 5th.
