We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all 96 players who supported the End of Season event at Slaley Hall travelling from far and wide with special mention of the ladies from Cheshire, lots of early starts.
The weekend was not without its challenges on the golf course – the windy conditions with 35mph gusts made play particularly difficult on Sunday playing the Priestman course.
However, spirits remained high, and some might say the highlight of the two days was the fabulous dinner on Sunday evening, plenty of laughter and the occasional glass of vino.
During the dinner, two special presentations took place:
Firstly, • current Captain Caroline Berry introduced welcomed and handed over her badge of office to incoming Captain Julie Wheeldon from Yorkshire.
Then Current President, Gill Travis introduced her dear friend, Elaine Elliott of Northumberland who is to be our Northern President for the next two years.
The best weather conditions for the two days arrived on Monday morning but the golf wasn't much easier! The Hunting Course proved to be a very long walk but a true test of golf. Congratulations to the Cumbrian ladies from Kendal Golf Club - Rosie Waller, Jean Newhouse, Cheryl Dickinson and Sue Howell with an excellent 148 points over the two days.
